The Infinitas Mini Implant system represents a synthesis of theoretical and practical teaching in the placement of orthodontic mini implants (OMIs), also known as temporary anchorage devices (TADs).  It is our philosophy that bone anchorage should be a simple and routine option for orthodontists and many of your patients.

This well-established course aims to equip delegates with the essential theoretical and practical knowledge to begin using mini-implant anchorage in clinical scenarios. Intended as an introduction to OMIs, the course will cover the practical aspects of mini-implant techniques, including treatment planning and biomechanics.

Aim
  • To explain the indications, benefits and clinical usage of OMIs
  • To provide practical hands-on teaching using the Infinitas system
  • To provide a detailed appraisal of the treatment planning process and biomechanics involved for both buccal and palatal OMIs
  • To discuss clinical techniques for using OMIs with direct & indirect anchorage
  • To discuss clinical techniques for anterior retraction, molar mesialisation, molar intrusion and molar distalisation.
  • To critically appraise the evidence regarding factors affecting OMI success rates

    Dr Charlotte Dugdale

BDS MSc (Ortho) MJDF RCSEng MOrth RCSEng FDS (Orth) RCSEng

Consultant and Specialist Orthodontist | Clinical Lecturer in Orthodontics

Mrs Charlotte Dugdale completed a degree and Masters in Chemistry in 2002 and went on to study dentistry at the University of Manchester in 2003. After several years of dental foundation training, she went on to specialise in Orthodontics, gaining a distinction in her MSc (Clinical Orthodontics) and was awarded the Alan Hilton Prize for her orthodontic research. Mrs Dugdale completed her consultant training in and around the North West of England.

She currently works as a consultant Orthodontist at Royal Blackburn Hospital and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester. She also works in a private orthodontic practice in Cheshire.

At the University of Manchester, she teaches, trains and supervises UK and overseas orthodontic trainees, as well as examining for the University and Royal College of Surgeons England and she is an elected member of the British Orthodontic Society Consultant Orthodontic Group.

Charlotte is involved in research and she has had papers published in the Journal of Orthodontics and British Dental Journal, along with other peer-reviewed journals.

Charlotte’s keen interest in the surgical aspects of dentistry has led to clinical curiosity in the application of orthodontic mini-implants as an adjunct to orthodontic treatment. This has developed over the years and she now uses mini-implants in her day-to-day clinical practice and values the benefits of their application.
